Hello! My name is Christina Nguyen. I am a senior at Seattle University, double majoring in strategic communications and public affairs. I can’t think of a better or more exciting way to ring in the New Year than an internship at Curator PR.

In high school I was heavily involved with our student-run newspaper. I loved dedicating my time to sharing the stories of our teachers and student body. I took my interest in journalism to college; however, I wanted to take my passion for storytelling one-step further. I switched my major to strategic communications for its convergence with public relations, reputation management and branding. A key value that drives me as a communicator is utilizing strategic communications to engage, empower and mobilize communities. I strongly believe that effective public relations and authentic branding enable businesses, nonprofits and government to connect and better serve their communities in transformative and meaningful ways.

To integrate my public affairs and strategic communications majors into a cohesive experience, I interned with the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and The Seattle Channel where I supported their marketing and outreach efforts. In addition to development and communication roles at The Mockingbird Society, a nonprofit which advocates for homeless and foster care youth, and Schoolhouse Supplies, a nonprofit which provides students in Portland the tools they need to succeed, I rounded out my experience as I consider potential careers. With graduation approaching, I come to Curator excited to gain some traditional PR experience and skills supporting food and fashion clients.

Born and raised in the Portland area, I ventured to Seattle for college to gain independence balanced with Seattle’s resemblance to the comforts of home. I am a major food junkie so when not doing homework, you’ll most likely find me snacking while re-watching Gilmore Girls for the millionth time, fawning over corgi Instagram accounts or going through great lengths to cheer on my Portland Trail Blazers from afar.
