Farewell from Curator's Fall Intern, Catherine!
As the holidays draw near and the Seattle grey season settles into its winter state, my time at Curator is coming to a close. I had an amazing experience growing as a professional throughout this quarter with Curator.
Before this internship, I didn’t have a full understanding of what working in the PR world looked like. Now, I feel like I have an inside look into how the day-to-day activities work in a PR firm. Throughout my time I compiled media lists, drafted and edited several press releases, created copy for social media posts, and conducted research work for various clients. My highlight of the internship was attending and assisting with a socially distanced media tour for one of our clients that was attended by TV, radio and print/digital journalists. I got to experience what happens behind the scenes and help with all of the preparation to execute a successful event.
While working remotely has been a unique experience as an intern, the Curator team has made every effort to make the position filled with communication and team bonding opportunities. I look forward to the team Zoom calls every evening to see everyone’s face and listen in to all the different projects the team is working on.
I feel like I have grown most prominently in my own confidence in my ability as a young PR professional. Receiving constructive feedback from a team working in the PR world gave me more confidence in my ability to take on more work and be proud of what I’ve done. After my time at Curator is over, I will be finishing up my finals for the quarter and then taking a much-needed break for the holidays! I am so grateful for the mentorship and support I received from the Curator team in helping me develop specific goals and then achieving them.
