Intern Roll Call: Meet Marta

Hello everyone! My name is Marta Gamez and I’m the spring intern at Curator! I’m a senior at Seattle University (SU) and am approaching my last quarter studying Strategic Communication and Public Affairs. Within my time at SU I have developed a passion for storytelling that is driven by culture, digital media, and equity. I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to intern with Curator and continue to develop my communication and media skills.

I grew up in The Dalles, Oregon, a rural town an hour and a half east of Portland. My favorite memory growing up was harvest season when the orchards transitioned from beautiful cherry blossoms to ripened fruit and the town would flourish with migrant working families and tourists. It was then that I noticed the power in communication and media to bridge gaps between audiences.

I’m incredibly excited to be joining Curator PR this spring and learn more about the PR industry and how to effectively engage with consumers. I look forward to a hands-on learning environment where I’ll be invited to dive into brand management, digital communication, and media relations.

When I’m not on campus or at Curator, I can be found at the nearest vegan dessert shop in Capitol Hill, exploring thrift stores, and snuggling up with cats at the many cat cafes in Seattle. I love Latino music, strolling in the city on sunny days, and have committed to expanding my taste palette by trying new cultural foods in this beautiful city! Feel free to recommend any restaurants - I’m on the lookout!
